In Germany, the protection of children and adolescents and the protection of human dignity are fundamental rights which are embedded in the German Constitution.

The Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (KJM) ensures that the provisions of the Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media are adhered to. In so doing, it acts as a body of the respective state media authority fulfilling its remit.
